Come, come, come into my world....

OK, amends made!

OK, Jamie at Infinity Apartments really wanted my business. I got the kind of place I wanted, with the kitchen I wanted, and better laid out space. I posted pics up on my Facebook page. So will 2010 prove to be the first of many pleasant years there, or the springboard to even more sophisticated housing???

Fucking Bait and Switch!!!!!

Damn if they continue to figure out how to keep screwing me in the new apartment search! The Infinity Apartments, a Carmel Property, claims some very modern kitchens, a major inducement for me. What I saw this afternoon was a disaster! No stainless at all, no track lighting, the microwave was not mounted, but rather taking up virtually all of the counter! To say I was upset would be understatement. I was pissed. Add to that the missing curved shower rod, and a smoke alarm that was beeping low power, and I am on the verge of demanding my money back and tear up the lease! I know there are a couple of other places that will give me what I want right now...

Since when is Winter the alluring time for matrimonies?

Here this morning the wind chill is -4 F. Now I can count this week: one wedding shut out from, one wedding attended, and two new engagements. I am now perplexed again, and could see this make me insane again today. Too cold for this!!!

Fuck, why do people treat me this way???

And now for some something completely familiar: Another case of denied marriage invite. Why is always a mystery, but if there is no answer, then one day there will be blood. I will drink that milkshake! What is it, am i seen as anti-marriage by virtue of my single state, my generational bridge of interests, my intellect, my perceived success, the hegemony of the West Coast Cultural elite (Fuck them!). For whatever reason, my friend Clark got married again this week, and I find out about it by way of some strangers' pics on Facebook. Why am I not wanted to be present at my friends' weddings? It's not like I am some leper; I went to one wedding back in September, and I have another one to go to tomorrow. But in this case, Clark and I know each other for a much longer time. What has changed?

2010, another year Hollywood failed to predict

Ha ha ha! I doubt anyone will read this (hell, I haven't been back since 2007! ) but hey, Being bored and stumbling through some old links with ice outside, and here I yam. Thought for the day: 2010, the not so hot sequel to Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, has us with a robust space program (fully cooperating with a functional Soviet Union) on a mission out to the moons of Jupiter. How's that turning out, NASA? Exactly. We are still fumbling with going back to the Moon, 30 frickin' years later!!!

Well, at least we have Duncan Jones' Moon

Where is the new woman?

Jeez, what is it with this woman? Oh yeah, she's a Canadian! Canucks? I was told by one when up in Toronto a few years ago that Canadians are very shallow people who will always lie to your face. Is she manifesting this characterization? She is not returning calls or texts *on the day she wanted to go out* I still wonder what game she is playing after such a promising first date.

Call it another par for the the course of Jim's dating life.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaack!

Just a couple of days before I reach the next milestone of my age (OK, the Uber one was last year, and was totally hosed by the ex (one removed) in a day that made her an ex). Anyway, decided to take a couple extra days off around my birthday just to make it feel a bit more special. Also, want to find a good Gator contingent for the BCS game on Monday night!

Here's a quick update for now: As of a month ago, Rick Taylor has become the new roomie in the penthouse suite here in FC. He is half of the nationally recognized DJ duo who put on a monthly post-punk listening night called We Fought The Big One ; Going into the last year of my contract at Treasury (hopefully we will learn who will be the next contractor in a few months, then we look at what direction we go in, job wise); been on a few dates with Match/Chemistry candidates, and of course, the most promising was just before Christmas, and she is not bothering to call me back as of this time; I was starting to think that I was back in Florida with the temps going up to 70 today; Pizza or Chinese tonight, that is the question; oh, yeah, Houston, of the group DaisySpurs, grabbed my ass last night. Bonus :-S

OK, time to watch some more football. I promise to be back here again much sooner!

Long ignored, but returned

Hey all, sorry I took an extended leave from here. Obviously I got lazy with the off time with my busted wrist. Anyway, Some quick updates:

1) I expect to be moving from the building of my residence for almost 9 years, as the Washington Real Estate Investment Trust, the entity that manages this building, feels that with the downturn in rentals at this time, they want to offer me a higher rate (some $2-3000 more a year) than a totally unknown individual. Fortunately, my boy C-Towner introduced me to Seggerman, who has already plied me with dozens of options both in price and locations I can deal with. I will let you all know soon when and where I will be sending forth these blog reports from, aka known as Jim Central;

2) Related to the above, in case you didn't hear, means I am sans roommate now. Probably overdue, but hey, extra $$'s always helps in DC. Rantboy ran away while I was Toronto back in September, and I have not seen him since I returned. Obviously he is avoiding me, but that is far from his biggest problem: he got canned again, but tried to claim he 'resigned':

Subject : Hello

Sorry, having a very bad day. I am resigning from potomac. I just cannot
handle all the issues and problems anymore, just feel like an emotional wreak
right now. I will drop off the checks tonight.

Of course, the next day, a Fed Ex mailer with a big open window to the contents had his termination letter in it, including the listed reasons for said termination, "poor quality work and long overdue deadlines missed" Ranty moved in with a sugar mommy, so I guess I have to give him credit for having a social safety net!

3) I went down to Tampa for Halloween weekend and the Necro con, and to hook up with a a chick I met down there last year. The score came out as: two well received panels hosted (including getting a lot of thanks from panelists and audience members for my efforts), one so-so dj event (I think scheduling killed us here, starting around 2:30 AM), the chick turned psycho (par for my course), but always good to see the Stone Hillers and my boy in Tampa, The Drain!

4) On the flight back, I was a total fucking idiot and left my iPod on the plane. I called AA and airport lost and found for both DC and Miami to no avail. Mind you, my name was etched on the back of the fucker, so some cleaning crew contractor is now enjoying the failing battery-powered collection of synthies and other tunes with MY NAME ON IT STILL

4a) Knowing what kind of music whore I am, it wasn't long before I was online to Apple to buy a replacement: the new 60 gig Video iPod in black. As pissed as I was for losing my first iPod, this new one is ssswweeeetttt!!!!! Color, a bigger display, mucho more storage, no remorse here!

5) Caught a preview of the new film version of the musical Rent. Ultimately, I think this works as it provides some better contextuality for the second half libretto, although the multimedia finale with Mark's film is not as powerful as it was in the stage production. I would have gone with a splintered screen myself. See it when it comes out and let me knowwhat you think.

That's longer than short - Sorry! Anyway, look for more news and tidbits soon, including whether I am a lucky purchaser of and Xbox 360 and more.

Until then, no day like Today.
