I have returned, with BITCH NO. 2!!!!!
For those of you who have been waiting since I broke my wrist to return to here, I thank you. But today, I was planning on update you on the past week plus my Toronto films, I instead discovered that my car was broken into in a botched attempt to steal it. This left the steering wheel in pieces and the steering column exploded. Now, I initially took this in stride, as I figured I would get something for the comprehensive auto insurance I bought from USAA. That's when things went downhill.
First, I was told I wouldn't have a claims adjustment until Tuesday. I told them I wasn't happy for that. Next, I was told that they would arrange for a rental car for me to pick up right away, from Enterprise. Of course, the location they referred me to was closed by 5 minutes by the time I got my confirmation. I called USAA back, and they cheerfully told me that all of the locations locally had closed at noon, and then told me I had to go to another rental agency, *on my own dime* if I wanted a car. I was furious. This is comprehensive service?
Hello, couldn't the idiot at USAA told me that the location was closed, or even had the agency send me the car?!?!? I called USAA back and asked to find out exactly what I would get reimbursed for before I spend my own money. I was directed by the USAA agent to go to Avis because USAA gets a discount with them. Really? I checked Avis' rates online for a weekend rental compact: $68. The 'discounted' rate I was quoted on the phone? $79. Mind you, I have to consider this because I have dollar limits on rentals to consider. So, this referral was going to be worse for me. At this point, I am throwing my hands in the air for the moment. Perhaps you might want to take this time to discuss with your insurer what would happen to you in a similar circumstance at the noon hour or later on a weekend. Hold them to promise your experience would not be as bad as mine!!!!
