04/10/2005: Sunday eve, a weekend almost gone (10:58 PM)

Alas, no more weekend sunlight for another five days! Waugh.... Well, at least I was out and about this weekend. Thanks to my friend Mike, I got into the long sold out Bloc Party show at the Cat yesterday. I was virtually oblivious to their music going in, and coming out, well, they are fun, but I wasn't all that impressed. Their sound owes much to the California power pop scene of bands like The Offspring and fellow U.K. acts like Therapy? , not to mention that the lead singer channels the voice of Robert Smith. Still, when the crowd seems to know all of their songs, and the guitar work is dramatic, even though I am thinking "where's the keyboards?", I had fun. The opening act, The Ponys, were also fun; I even bought one of their cd's when I saw their bassist Melissa hawking their own cd (now that is hard working!).

I spent today hanging out with Cleveland Boy at the Georgetown Waterfront. As expected, it was full of frat boys, ex-frat boys, and homoginized women. Yes, this was a scene where DC Biker Boyz came out, as did the Eurotrash in their advertising smeared soccer jerseys (to think that they criticize NASCAR for their advertising!). We hung out there for a few hours, then we headed back to La Tasca in Clarendon to eat tapas and watch Desperate Housewives.

Oh, and in a boneheaded stroke of bad luck, one of my temp tags fell down into one of the nether regions of my car. I get to go get another set this week. Nuts!
